Weight problems caused by a Virus.

Information from a report in the Seattle Evening post April 8 1997 by Marilynn Marchione.

A virus known to cause obesity in animals has been tied to weight problems in humans, raising the possibility that some people "catch" obesity and that in some cases it could be an infectious disease. The research was carried out at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that 15% of obese people have antibodies to the Adeno 36 virus indicating that they were exposed to this virus, whereas a group of average weight people did not have antibodies. This study was carried out by Nikhil Dhurandhar and Professor Richard Atkinson, an endocrinologist and a nationally known obesity expert (USA). This information has enormous implications, explaining why in 1980 only 26% of Americans were obese and in 1997 that figure had gone up to 35%.
